Eldon enclosures chosen for major Dutch tunnel project

Customer problem solved

Eldon Netherlands felt a great sense of pride in being selected to supply vital enclosures for control and power distribution in the massive roadworks and tunnel construction project being carried out by the A4ALL consortium comprising three construction companies, Volkerwessels,Boskalis and Heijmans.

The prestigious project, which started in 2012, is scheduled for completion at the end of 2015. The A4 Middle Delfland highway, Commissioned by Rijkswaterstaat, Executive Department of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, involves building a 7-kilometer stretch of motorway and tunnel connecting the Dutch towns of Delft and Schiedam.

The project will provide a continuous highway between Rotterdam and The Hague, and relieve chronic traffic congestion on adjacent highways and local roads currently used by motorists traveling between the two cities.

The project is considered to be especially complex, as part of the tunnel is being constructed at ground level and later covered with soil, which puts high demands on the quality of the supplying companies. The image above shows a part of the tram viaduct construction. 

Eldon solution

A4ALL made Eldon a preferred supplier when it comes to electrical enclosures.  Working through Eldon Netherlands, A4ALL’s order included Eldon MCI floor standing 2000 mm high control cabinets for the service areas as well as wall mounted MAS enclosures for control and power distribution in the central tunnel channel.
