A Heat Mat ramp heating system has been installed at Millgate Home’s new luxury development in Ascot, Berkshire. Englemere was previously the site of a Regency Villa and the impressive property once housed royalty during the second world war.
Millgate has created 17 high-end homes at Englemere using premium materials including Heat Mat’s driveway heating cables. Prices for the 2 or 3 bed properties begin at £1.4m. The lavish apartments, with covetable contemporary features, are set in 12 acres of grounds near Ascot Racecourse.
The remit at this prestigious development was to enable year-round resident access and improve safety in winter. Following the successful installation of a similar driveway heating system at Westbrook House, Millgate approached Heat Mat to supply a second ramp heating system for the parking incline at Englemere.
Heat Mat’s project team specified a robust driveway heating system for the ramp down to the secure underground parking area. Following on-site consultations Heat Mat proposed a system to heat sections of the driveway using external weatherproof cables installed to generate a 300W/m2 output.
Heat Mat’s 50W hot asphalt cables were secured to the concrete base. Due to their unique construction, hot asphalt could be poured directly on top of the cables for a faster and less expensive install than alternative cables.
The system produces an output of 300W/m2, sufficient to melt dangerous ice on the driveway. When the temperature drops, Heat Mat’s FRO-48A-STAT dual zone thermostat will control the system and a FRO-GRO-SENS moisture and temperature sensor will monitor the ground conditions. The heating will only be activated when the temperature drops below 3oC and moisture is detected in the air posing the risk of freezing and ice forming.
The new driveway heating system is an added value feature for residents, allowing safe access to the underground parking area in winter.
