2019 marks NET LED Lighting’s 10th anniversary

Whilst a relatively young company in the lighting industry, NET LED is in fact one of the oldest lighting companies to have only supplied LED lighting products. When it was launched back in 2009, many had not even heard of LED lighting and of those who had, many were then sceptical as to the capability of the new technology.

NET LED was founded by Paul Bubb and Chris Dawes. Paul, an electronics engineer by training, had a background in digital signage and was able to bring his expertise in LED screen technology to the lighting industry. Chris’ background had been in sales and marketing, in particular commercialising new technology companies. Between them, over the last ten years, they have built NET LED into a ten-million-pound turnover supplier of commercial and industrial LED lighting to the UK market, all distributed through electrical wholesalers.

Our Service, Our People, Your Choice

When asked what the secret of NET LED’s success is, surprisingly they don’t talk about the amazing innovations in LED lighting technology over the last decade, but rather point to three things: service, people and choice.

“Genuinely providing outstanding customer service, whether through working with a wholesaler to undertake a site survey, providing a lighting guide and explaining the technical options to the end-user, or going the extra mile in delivering products to site at short notice so a contractor’s team can complete a job on time, is what our core business is about,” says Chris. “And, to be able to consistently deliver great service requires great people; people who have been well trained in what they do and enjoy developing relationships with our customers, based on trust.”

Growing Team

Now employing 40 people, including technical engineers and lighting designers who have been trained by the UK’s Lighting Industry Association, along with warehouse and admin staff, and sales and marketing personnel, the company relocated in 2018 to new, purpose-built warehousing and office facilities at Buckingway Business Park in Swavesey, Cambridge.

“Our new facilities include a large showroom and meeting rooms for seminars and training along with 36,000 sqft of warehouse capacity accommodating more than 1500 pallets of stock available for next day delivery,” claims Paul. “We represent and distribute commercial and industrial LED lighting luminaires on behalf of reputable manufacturers from around the globe, which allows us to offer our customers genuine choice to meet their lighting applications,” he continues.

In true open and transparent style, NET LED have not kept their secret of success a secret: ‘Our Service, Our People, Your Choice’ is their motto and appears on everything they publish.
