Compact Three Phase MCB Distribution Boards with Factory-Fitted SPD
10-03-2026

Our most compact three phase ABX distribution boards are now available with factory fitted surge protection. Proteus Switchgear is proud to launch an enhanced version of our ABX three phase distribution board range, now available with a factory-fitted Type 1 or Type 1+2 surge protection device (SPD). Designed and manufactured in the Midlands and supplied nationwide through CEF, this new offering delivers advanced protection without compromising on space, performance or ease of installation.
Recognised as one of the most compact three phase distribution boards on the market, the ABX range is ideal for projects where on-site space is limited. Installers can choose from horizontal or vertical frame formats, with standard configurations from 2 to 8 outgoing ways, and key-lockable options available on request. Each board is manufactured from a robust steel construction and tested to IP3X ingress protection, making it suitable for demanding commercial and light industrial environments.
For added convenience and safety, boards are supplied with a factory fitted 100A four pole isolator or RCD incomer. Removable top cable entry plates come as standard, helping to speed up installation and simplify site work. The new factory fitted SPD option ensures critical equipment is protected against transient overvoltages caused by lightning strikes or switching surges, supporting compliance with current wiring regulations and best practice surge protection guidance.
Ideal applications for a three phase distribution board with SPD include:
-
Commercial buildings such as offices, retail units and leisure facilities
-
Industrial units and light manufacturing workshops
-
EV charging installations and renewable energy systems
-
Data, IT and building services equipment protection
