Docs-Store, the trusted name in specialist electrical documentation, continues to support the trade with the release of five essential new titles designed to keep electricians, engineers, and wholesalers ahead of current standards and best practices.

At the forefront of these releases is the British Standard BS 5839-1:2025 publication. This newly updated British Standard provides vital guidance for the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of fire detection and fire alarm systems in non-domestic premises. With revised recommendations aimed at improving reliability and reducing false alarms, this latest edition ensures professionals remain compliant with legal and safety requirements.

In direct support of the new standard is the updated Fire Alarm Logbook, an essential document for recording system commissioning, maintenance, and false alarms. In line with BS 5839-1:2025, the leading logbook supports full compliance during system handover and throughout its operational life, giving clients confidence and helping installers demonstrate professional standards.

Also, Docs-Store now offers a new compulsory False Alarm Notice label. Required under Clause 14.22, this label must be fitted on or near control and indicating equipment (CIE) to prevent accidental transmission of false alarms to Alarm Receiving Centres (ARCs). This addition helps reduce unnecessary call-outs and supports responsible system use.

Another key release is the updated IET Guide to Temporary Electrical Systems (2nd Edition). Aligned with BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 and BS 7909:2023, this guide is tailored for professionals working in the events sector—including festivals, concerts, and temporary structures. It offers comprehensive advice on planning, design, testing, and safety, making it especially valuable during the busy summer events season.

With the rising adoption of renewable technologies, the new IET Guide to Domestic Electrical Energy Storage Systems is a timely addition. This guide provides practical, on-site installation advice, including fire safety considerations, system schematics, permissions, and user maintenance. It is designed to be used alongside the IET Code of Practice and BS 7671, making it ideal for contractors and new entrants looking to meet increasing domestic demand for battery storage systems.

These new additions solidify Docs-Store’s position as a leader in compliance documentation for the electrotechnical sector. Whether you're designing a fire alarm system, setting up temporary event power, or installing domestic energy storage, Docs-Store provides the right documentation to keep your work safe, compliant, and future-ready.
