Tried and tested: fire rated cable clip withstands rigorous independent testing

26-01-2022

Following rigorous fire testing, the Metal Clip Elec, from SPIT, has been proven to withstand premature collapse caused by direct exposure to heat. These fire rated cable clips are 18th edition compliant and will sit within the growing range of accessories for the Pulsa Direct Fixing system.

TESTING TIMES: MEETING 18TH EDITION REGULATIONS

The 18th Edition wiring regulations stipulate that cable support systems must be constructed with materials that will withstand premature collapse caused by direct exposure to heat. To comply with the regulations, the Metal Clip Elec was subjected to heating conditions compliant with EN1363-1:2020 for two hours. Tests were performed in both soft concrete (C20/25) and hard concrete (C60/70) using the Pulsa 40E system and HC6 17mm and HC6 22 mm pins. Fire testing was also conducted on the MCC-O Cable Tie Base accessories, which performed up to 30 minutes, with 2.5KG loads, without losing integrity. The independent and comprehensive testing was carried out by BRE Global, a UKAS accredited fire testing laboratory, giving customers complete peace of mind. The BRE test report P121261-1000 verifies load limits for up to 120 minute fire ratings for the metal clip elec, with checks carried out at 30, 60, 90 and 120 minute intervals.
