ESP behind ‘Pig Brother’ initiative
14-11-2017
In a rather unusual application, one of ESP’s high definition CCTV systems has been installed to provide security for a community pig rearing scheme, set up in Little Beckford in Worcestershire, and the subject of a recent BBC Countryfile episode.
Qualified electrician, Paul Hopkins, set up the pig rearing scheme after he took over a four acre farm when his father retired and was persuaded by a friend to buy some piglets. The Little Beckford Pig Association was established - a community farming project where members 'buy' a pig and help rear it, until it's ready to be slaughtered and then the owners take home their investment in the form of meat, which comes from pigs they know to have been responsibly reared outdoors.
An electrician for more than 25 years and running his own electrical company, P&H Services, for the last six years, Paul had no previous experience of CCTV installation until he came across the ESP system. He installed ESP’s DigiviewHD 8 channel true HD CCTV System, with the cameras positioned to overlook the areas where the pigs are kept. With the owners keen to be as involved as possible, they are able to log in remotely from their homes and keep an eye on their pigs at all times of the day or night.
Comments Paul: “Having no knowledge of CCTV installation, I was very impressed with how easy to install and set up the ESP system was. I love the plug and play aspect and since that first installation we have now gone on to install around eight more systems in other farms in the surrounding area.
The DigiviewHD 8 channel CCTV system installed by Paul delivers superior display and recording clarity and a high-capacity hard drive with 1TB, 2TB or 4TB options available. It offers remote monitoring via wired or Wi-Fi connection and mobile monitoring with Android or iPhone App. Paul has recently upgraded the system to the 16-channel version.
