The Project

Stephen James is a new and approved used BMW retailer in Enfield, North London, who also offers servicing and repairs. As a BMW retailer, the car dealership ensures that it adheres to BMW high quality standards in all its facilities.

To meet new BMW requirements, the old light fittings in the body shop area needed to be replaced. With a light output of 600lm, the old fittings were inefficient and unable to deliver the brightness needed.

Looking for a more cost effective, environmentally friendly option that would meet BMW standards, a local contractor referred Stephen James to NET LED to discuss a switch to LED lighting.

The NET LED Regional Sales Manager visited the car dealership to survey the premises and understand their specific lighting requirements. Following this, the NET LED Technical Team were able to provide lighting designs and savings calculations to find the optimum solution in terms of light quality, and cost effectiveness

The Solution

Fifty-two energy efficient Elton 150W LED High Bays were installed in the body shop areas. With a light output of 17,800lm from each fitting, the Elton LED High Bays provide the light needed for Stephen James’ mechanics to do their jobs efficiently and accurately. Furthermore, with a luminous efficacy of >140lm/W, the car dealership will see significant long-term energy savings of 70%.

Fitted with Philips LED chips and Mean Well drivers, the Elton LED High Bays are a reliable option with a life expectancy of 50,000 hours, significantly reducing maintenance and replacement costs. Elton LED High Bays also feature a suspension ring for quick and easy installation

The Result

Since installing the Elton LED High Bays, the staff at Stephen James have noticed a vast improvement in light quality and visibility in the body shop areas. Commenting on his experience with NET LED, Facilities Co-ordinator Mario Pizun said that “…the process was pain free from start to finish. The new LED lighting system was designed, delivered and installed quickly. We have seen a massive improvement in terms of brightness and the quality of light.”
