Arnold Clark, one of the UK's largest automotive retailers, recently had an our VEC04 electric vehicle charger installed at their London Road Motorstore in Glasgow. The aim was to give customers an interactive charging point where they can see how easy it is to plug in and charge an EV or plug-in hybrid.

While they have a range of home EV chargers set up indoors, having one installed outside means people can get hands-on experience of the whole charging process. It's a great way to help build confidence for those considering making the switch to electric vehicles.

Why did they choose the VEC04?

There were a few key reasons Arnold Clark opted for the VEC04 charger:

3-phase power for faster charging

While keeping the same look and feel of our best-selling VEC03 7.4kW tethered home charger, the VEC04's 22kW 3-phase AC output allows it to charge compatible EVs and PHEVs three times quicker than standard Level 2 chargers and six times quicker than a 3-pin plug EV charger.

Tethered cable for user convenience

The VEC04 has a neat, tethered Type 2 cable built right in. That means you can simply plug it straight into your car without relying on customers to supply their own cable.

Packed full of handy features

This affordable charger doesn't compromise on features. It's got an IP54 weatherproof rating to handle being mounted outside, plus built-in LED lights to show its status, smart OCPP support, and load balancing tech.

Quick & easy EV charger installation

When it came to getting the VEC04 up and running, it was a straightforward job for the installation team at Bumblebee EV, who recently joined the Arnold Clark family. The whole process took less than an hour, thanks to the wall-mounted design and the site's distribution board being just a short distance away from where the charger was going.
