M2 Assist Trainee Electricians

Proteus Switchgear and M2 Electrical wiring accessories were asked to provide DCET with products to be used by the next generation of electricians at their three training facilities in the south west region.

Mainly day release on the government Trailblazer Apprenticeship scheme, DCET offer year 1 City & Guilds 5357, years 2 & 3 City & Guilds 2357, leading to AM2, being the industry standard assessment for electrical competence. The length of the apprenticeship scheme is between 42-48 months.

As UK manufacturers, Proteus and M2, are driven by design and have many innovations across their comprehensive product ranges. To overcome the concern of house fires and lose incoming tail connections, M2 have recently been awarded a patent on their unique twin screwed isolator terminal for their range of consumer units.

Marc Lambert, Assistant Curriculum Manager, commented, “ It’s good to know that there are still some UK manufacturers left and if the new breed of electricians are used to the latest products on the market then that surely is a good situation for when they qualify”
