Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station
29-08-2023
Hinkley Point C is the first nuclear power station to be built in Britain in more than 30 years and is currently one of Europe’s largest construction projects. Capable of powering 6 million homes with low-carbon electricity over 60 years, it will be vital in helping the UK achieve net zero and securing the country’s energy supply.
Scame is proud to be a part of such a fantastic project, supplying over 12,000 products, all tested and certified by EDF Energy to be used all over the facility.
Some of the Scame products include the ADVANCE-GRP range of industrial interlocked socket outlets made of thermosetting material that is corrosion-resistant and insensitive to atmospheric and chemical agents. It is designed for use in an environment just like a nuclear power station and is capable of withstanding temperatures between -40 and +60°C, as well as heat up to 960°C.
BEHAVIOUR WITH CHEMICAL AND ATMOSPHERIC AGENTS
Our ATEX range ROCKER-EX [GD] series of DP switches, two-way switches, and DP pushbuttons are also being used on-site. These switches are designed to control lighting systems in gas and dust classified areas (zones 1/2 and 21/22, respectively). They are made of sturdy PA6 polyamide charged with glass fibre and can function in temperatures as low as -50°C.
Collaborating with Hinkley Point C is an outstanding achievement for Scame, demonstrating the quality of our products and services. Following our delivery to the site in late June, we look forward to continuing this partnership.
