New Food Grade Flexible Conduit System - LPCBUFG

Flexicon has launched a new conduit system for the Food & Beverage Industry, for the ultimate protection of Cables used in the food industry. 

The new LPCBUFG Food Grade conduit offers a smooth outer surface, which is easy to clean thus making it ideal for food and beverage applications. It also features a smooth inner bore which helps to simplify installations.

Grouping cables into one conduit minimizes the number of surfaces for cleaning and can also potentially reduce the number of terminations into an enclosure. This can effectively reduce material cost and installation times, as well as reducing the risks from buildup of bacteria.

When used with our Stainless Steel Food Grade fitting, the system offers IP ratings of IP66, IP67, IP68 (2Bar) and IP69, providing superior protection against Water and Dust Ingress and is ideal for wash down environments.

The conduit has been tested to European food regulation 10/2011 and is suitable for repeat contact with all food types, excluding fatty foods, at full temperature.  It is blue in colour, providing visibility and easy identification, and is available in sizes from 16mm up to 50mm.

This non-metallic system offers superior corrosion resistance and is a great alternative to Stainless Steel systems which can often be costly and difficult to cut. It’s reinforced construction provide a compression strength of 120kg/100mm and its flexibility mean that cables can be easily routed for fixed or dynamic installations.

The engineered design includes a number of blue coloured compression seals to prevent any ingress of material or bacteria between the fitting, equipment and conduit. 

An internal compression blue seal made from PA6 seals the fitting onto the body when the compression nut is tightened and also fills the gap between the outer diameter of the conduit and the inside of the compression nut.  A polyester elastomer seal ensures that the fitting meets the adjoining equipment without any gaps, with a further compression seal preventing material and bacteria ingress between the body of the fitting and the nut.

Flexicon has designed the new fitting using the principles given in EN 1672-2:Food Processing Machinery – Hygienic requirements and EN ISO 14159.    The body and compression nut of the fitting are turned from AISI 316L (EN 1.4404) stainless steel.
