The traditional company from Dinklage combines innovation and environmental protection

Dinklage – Climate protection and sustainability are becoming increasingly relevant - also at Heller Tools GmbH. This is why the tool manufacturer supported the work of WE WANT MOOR with a sponsorship, making an important contribution to the climate and protecting the habitat of numerous animal and plant species. The company is now taking a further step towards sustainability with the use of green electricity and the introduction of a drill clip made from recyclable material.

Clip made from sunflower seed shellsAt the International Hardware Fair in Cologne in March, Heller presented the biodegradable packaging made from sunflower seed shells in addition to several new and further developments in the product range. The holder is made entirely from natural materials that can be 100% recycled in their own cycle after use. The innovative packaging, which marks a significant advance in the industry, is used for Heller's SDS drill bits and chisels.

The clip made from sunflower seed shells is characterized by outstanding performance, environmental friendliness and a versatile range of applications. In addition to the sustainable design, the clip forms a robust holder for all SDS-plus and SDS-max holders. By using renewable and biodegradable materials, the packaging helps to reduce the environmental footprint. It was developed to reduce the environmental impact without compromising on sustainability.

The innovative packaging is made from a GC Pro natural fiber material which, in combination with Heller's biodegradable labels, is 100% degradable and compostable under normal conditions. In addition, the sunflower seed husks are a waste product from the food industry and have few other uses. Transport is also sustainable, as the production site and the material supplier are located in the direct vicinity of the company and transport routes are correspondingly short. The production of the clips using solar power and regional materials represents an investment in the future.

The drill clip is the result of dedicated research and development in the field of sustainable packaging solutions. While conventional polypropylene packaging is calculated to have a Co2 equivalent of 1.6, the clips have an equivalent of between 0.3 and 1.2 and therefore have a low impact on the climate. In addition, the processing temperature of the materials is lower than that of conventional plastics due to the natural fiber of the sunflower seed husk, thus saving up to 20 % in energy and electricity. Heller Tools thus uses improved and more environmentally friendly materials to replace conventional plastics.

In order to keep the CO2 footprint in its own production as low as possible, the long-established company relies on sustainably generated energy with the green electricity certificate. Up to 100% of the electricity used to manufacture the numerous drills, jigsaws, reciprocating saws, cutting and grinding wheels and bits comes from renewable energy sources in Europe. The CO2-neutral electricity is generated from a mix of wind, solar and biomass. By using renewable energies, the drill manufacturer is thus promoting the energy transition and making its contribution to a sustainable future.

At Heller Tools, we are proud to play our part in protecting the environment by using innovative products that are both functional and ecological. Our commitment to sustainability and environmental protection is reflected in various aspects of our product range.
