Certification

Leading radiator manufacturer Stelrad Radiators has achieved certification of Zero Avoidable Waste to Landfill from environmental solutions experts Valpak.

Since the Packaging Waste Regulations were introduced, Valpak has provided simple and innovative environmental solutions to over 4,000 customers including Stelrad. It has also expanded its offerings and alternative services to cover wider areas of sustainability including waste management and recycling, carbon management, energy management, international compliance and data management. Its main role is to inspire businesses to do all they can to reduce environmental impact with leading data science and expertise – to create a better planet for future generations.

Last week (22nd May) Stelrad received confirmation that following its audit on 10th April it has been awarded certification of Avoidable Waster to Landfill – the news was received from Bronwynn Harris, Waste & Resource Traceability Consultant at Valpak: “As you are aware Valpak created the ‘Zero Avoidable Waste to Landfill’ tier to improve the accuracy and transparency of our certification. This tier acknowledges that due to law or local situation there might be no other alternative to sending certain waste streams to landfill.

“Please note that the certificate includes the percentage of the waste that went to landfill during the audit period and is valid for one year. You will be issued with a new certificate after your interim audit next year where this percentage will be amended or if you are able to divert completely from landfill you will be moved to the Zero Waste to Landfill Certification.”

The audit included a review of the company’s activities to understand where waste was created, documentation and data to confirm waste streams, treatment processes and a site tour to observe waste management practices on site.

David Martin Taylor is Stelrad Radiators Procurement & Supply Chain Manager: “This is excellent news for the company and highlights once again our efforts to reduce waste going to landfill and supports the company’s environmental policy.”
