Specialist Winter Hand Protection

27-11-2023

TG

The bitterly cold weather isn't here yet but it's wet and miserable; not great if you're working outside or in cold, draughty conditions.  It's definitely time to protect your hands for Winter.

The rain-fall that we’ve been experiencing lately is much higher than average for this time of year and when it’s perpetually damp, it always seems far colder that it actually is.

MCR Safety offer a range of specialist Winter hand protection; it includes gloves for general handling, and with cut-protection.  They’re all water-repellent too which is a fantastic bonus when the wet weather is so persistent.

All the gloves in the range will keep your hands nice and warm, and you can choose a glove that suits your specific working environment or the particular task you’re carrying out.  Here’s some information about the different winter gloves available.

HydraTherm – latest innovation in winter-lined gloves…

Rain and high winds are a constant cause of discomfort and particularly tough on hands.  Even if you’re working indoors, it could still be damp, draughty and maybe there’s little or no heating.  It’s important to look after your hands and shield them from these unpleasant factors.

MCR Safety has recently introduced a new cold protection glove as part of the prestigious Tornado range.  It’s called HydraTherm and as the name suggests, it will also protect from moisture penetration.

HydraTherm is a double dipped latex glove designed for cold environments. The double layer of latex provides powerful grip with water repellent properties. It’s soft, flexible and comfortable with good dexterity.

The first smooth layer of latex provides full coverage, this is the moisture barrier. The second layer covers the palm and fingers and has a sandy texture to deliver superior wet and dry grip.

It’s a durable glove that keeps hands warm and dry for indoor or outdoor work. It’s also sanitised to protect against bacteria and reduce odour.

This glove is a great asset in any industry where cold and damp conditions are commonplace and the need for good grip and dexterity is critical.

Zestos – Cut & Cold Resistant Work Glove

Zestos is an insulated work glove, also under the Tornado brand.  It has warm fleecy lining, water-resistant outer and a level of cut protection not normally associated with thermal hand protection.

Grade ‘C’ in the EN388:2016 test means it withstands a blade applied at up to 14.9 Newtons of force; a level of protection that assures confidence when working with sharp or jagged objects.

The bi-polymer coating is finely textured to repel water droplets and provide powerful wet and dry grip.  Inside, the super-soft, micro-fleece lining is incredibly warm and comfortable.

When your hands are feeling cosy and protected, you work quickly, efficiently and without discomfort.  Zestos has warmth, cut resistance, grip and dexterity all in one specialist glove!

WL1048HP – General Handling with Exceptional Dexterity

If you’re operating machinery, great care and accuracy is needed; it’s important not to lose any dexterity. Cold fingers are clumsy and awkward, they slow you down and could lead to mistakes or even accidents.

WL1048HP is a nylon glove with HPT coating and cosy terry towelling lining.  It protects from cold and delivers exceptional dexterity.

You may need to use tools to carry out delicate tasks that require freedom of movement in your fingers; that’s easy with this glove.  No need to remove it, exposing your hand to the cold.  The coating is tough and flexible with Sponge-Touch finish for strong, sensitive grip in wet, dry and oily conditions.

Together the nylon shell and HPT coating form a powerful barrier against cold with extreme cold flexibility, so movement isn’t restricted by the glove. Choose from palm or fully coated options depending on the nature of the task and working environment.

In summary, this glove is ideal for carrying out general duties and precision handling tasks in very cold environments both indoors and out. You can rely on it for warmth, comfort and dexterity.
